Gluten-Free, Vegan, Serves 2
- 2 cups unsweetened almond milk
- 2 chai tea bags
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp maple syrup or agave nectar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
- Pinch of ground cloves
- Pinch of salt
- Vegan whipped cream or coconut cream, for topping (optional)
- Ground cinnamon, for garnish
Directions:
In a small pot, heat the almond milk over medium heat until hot but not boiling. Add the chai tea bags to the pot and let them steep in the hot almond milk for about 5 minutes. Remove the tea bags and discard. Whisk in the cocoa powder, maple syrup or agave nectar, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, ground cardamom, ground cloves, and salt until well combined. Return the pot to the stove and heat the mixture over low heat for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until hot and well blended.
Pour the chai spiced hot chocolate into two mugs. Top with vegan whipped cream or coconut cream, if desired, and sprinkle with ground cinnamon. Serve immediately and enjoy your cozy and delicious Chai Spiced Hot Chocolate!
