Matcha My Secret Weapon

Let’s face it we could all use a little more energy. Take a minute to look around you. The odds are that you are surrounded by things that are intended to increase or enhance your energy level. But do any of them work? Who amongst us doesn’t feel able to function in the morning without their coffee? What if I told you there was something out there that was better than coffee? Would you be sceptical or would you be interested? Now, when I say better than coffee I mean that for a number of reasons. Reasons that are pivotal to your health! Before you reach for your morning cup of joe there are a few things you should know.

The Hidden Truth

Sure coffee has been shown to increase your energy levels, and yes there are millions of people who love the way it tastes and smells. But is your coffee doing more harm than good? Did you know a study conducted by the Mayo Clinic showed an increase of 21% in all-cause mortality in men that consumed more than four cups a day? Now, I know what you are thinking: who drinks that many cups of coffee a day? A cup is 8 fluid ounces and when we order our venti cold brew, cold foam, salted caramel whatever we are drinking 20 fluid ounces. It adds up quickly!

Coffee The Silent Killer

Too much caffeine is the main contributing factor that causes a multitude of health issues such as: increase in blood pressure, higher risk of heart attack, increase in gout attacks, higher risk of fibrocystic breast disease, incontinence, insomnia, indigestion, headaches, infertility, increased risk of miscarriage, worsen menopause symptoms,  increase anxiety and depression, intensifies sugar cravings, inhibits collagen production (SPEEDS UP AGING), interferes with ossification, and more. Now, before you start to purge your pantry of all caffeine products it is important to remember that it is fine in moderation.

What’s Your Number?

According to research conducted by the Mayo Clinic it is imperative to your health that you do not exceed 400 mgs of caffeine a day. The amount of caffeine found in one cup of coffee is 95 mgs. Matcha, however, is less than half the amount of caffeine found in coffee and double that of green tea. So, if you are looking to reduce your caffeine intake a great way to transition is by swapping out one cup of coffee for one cup of matcha tea. Not to mention there are so many additional benefits to drinking matcha tea. It is bound to make matcha your new secret weapon in the battle for more energy. The struggle is real.

Healthy Alternative

Are you ready to win in the battle for more energy? We have established that coffee is too high in caffeine and can be extremely addictive in nature. What can we consume to boost our energy levels and improve our overall health? Matcha tea is a great option to do just that! Not only does matcha tea contain half the amount of caffeine to that of coffee it also is high in antioxidants. In fact, matcha has more than 137 times the amount of antioxidants than green tea! Matcha has been shown to improve your mood. It can increase your immune system, speed up your metabolism, and detoxify your body. Making ideal for weight loss!

Sure Fire Winner!

Matcha helps improve concentration and focus. It is great for improving skin texture, clarity, and color. Matcha also helps prevent gray hair and treat against sun damage. It has been shown to reduce cholesterol, prevent cancer, protect against HIV, and even reduce stress levels. I don’t know about you, but I am loving matcha tea. One of my favorite ways to drink it is as an iced latte with coconut milk. But do you know what is even better? A matcha smoothie bowl! Here is a great recipe to try that is sure to convert even the most devoted coffee lover.
